I have a confession to make. I feel like I’m kinda boring when it comes to clothes, which is ironic since I call myself a fashion blogger (I give myself too much credit some days if we’re being honest here). ANYWAYS, I feel boring I prefer basic colors tees and staple items over exotic prints and colors and I hardly change up my style no matter how hard I want too.
Don’t get me wrong come fall and the spring I like to change things up a little with some floral and striped patterns but usually, for my everyday looks, I’m a plain jane who sticks to what she knows which are basics and neutral colors.
On a typical day, this is usually how most of my outfits look like. A plain and basic black tank (because we are in the weird transition between summer and fall still) with a pair of distressed skinnies and a pair of lace-up gladiator sandals from the OG herself Target.
If you know me or keep up with my Instagram then you know that these jeans from Old Navy are and have been my go to’s for the past year now and probably will be for the next few years or whenever the freshman 15′ starts to catch up to me. I love these jeans because one. they are the mid-rise kind which means they don’t make me look too hipstery AND two. they make me look skinnier than what I actually am so everyone is winning here people.
I could write this long ass paragraph about how this basic black tee is so flattering and awesome and blah, blah but tbh it’s just a black tee, I’m not even sure how I got it. Knowing me I probably stole it out of my mom’s closet at some point during high school and it ended up in my dorm and my broke ass needed to look boujie and put together an outfit asap so here we are now.
I mean it’s comfy and all and black does go with pretty much everything plus gap has really cute tanks…I mean I don’t know probably one at target or hell even Walmart would do the job. But I’m supposed to rave and talk about clothes like my life depends on it so here’s the final review. It’s cute, it absorbs your sweat and hides it too and it’s cheap, go knock yourself out kid and get you one of your own.
Even though you can hardly see them in the pic (whoops, I’m new and kinda suck at this whole “fashion blogging” thing so bare with me ok?) they really were the best deal I had ever come across this past summer.
So let me give you the rundown on how my I met my soul shoe this past summer. I was dorm shopping with one of my pals one day in late July, of course, Target being the true OG it is, was having a clearance sale. So obviously my broke and boujie ass was like ‘hell yeah we are going to go spend money, that I clearly don’t have” and then I saw them. A size 8 and truly perfection for being only $12.32 (yes I remember the price) sitting perfectly in the box in aisle (let’s say 2). I almost bought another pair but in a different color, but considering I was using the last of the $20.00 left in my bank account I had to make the painful decision to walk away and pick between the two colors and that’s how our love story started and the rest is history.
So anyways yeah they are my babies and I protect those $12 shoes with my life and clean them with Clorox wipes weekly (because #JustCollegeThings) Am I right?
Until next time.
